Seatrium to convert LNG carrier to FSRU for Excelerate

Seatrium expects to start engineering soon, and is targeting a 2028 delivery date.

Excelerate Energy has awarded its first EPCIC Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) conversion project to Seatrium.

The work scope covers the regasification facilities, LNG transfer and cargo handling systems, utility and offloading systems, electrical and automation systems, marine modifications, and associated infrastructure to convert the designated LNG carrier into a fully operational FSRU.

Seatrium expects to start engineering during the current quarter, and is targeting delivery of the converted vessel in 2028.

It will be equipped with 170,000 cu m of LNG storage capacity, TFDE power generation and re-liquefaction technology.

David Liner, EVP and COO, Excelerate Energy, said, “Upon completion, the vessel will become the 13th FSRU in our fleet and will expand the reach and capabilities of our LNG infrastructure platform.”
