Kinetics commissions Seatrium for further FSRU conversion
Kinetics has contracted Seatrium to convert an LNG carrier to an FSRU, to be named LNGT Turkiye.
This was an option that the two companies had agreed to in April 2024, which is when Kinetics, a division of floating power provider Karpowership, awarded Seatrium three LNG carrier-FSRU conversions.
Work on the latest award will start shortly, and it will involve installation of a regasification module, a spread-mooring system, and integration of supporting cargo handling, offloading, utility, electrical and automation systems.
To date, Seatrium has delivered four converted FSRUs to Kinetics: Karmol LNGT Powership Africa, Asia, Europe, and most recently, Antarctica last month.
Two more FSRU conversion projects for Kinetics are progressing in Singapore, with deliveries scheduled for later this year and early in 2026.
Since 2007, Seatrium has performed a total of 21 FSRU/FSU conversions.
Seatrium's latest offshore projects
Last month, Seatrium signed a letter of intent with Solvang ASA for installation and retrofitting of full-scale carbon capture and storage systems. This collaboration aims to support Solvang ASA in its fleet decarbonization.
Also last month, ABB reported it will supply electrical equipment and automation solutions to Seatrium for two new FPSOs under construction for client Petrobras. The 225,000-bbl/d P-84 and P-85 platforms will operate at the Atapu and Sépia fields, 200 km offshore Rio de Janeiro in the presalt Santos Basin offshore Brazil.
For the same project, Veolia secured a multi-million-dollar contract from Seatrium to provide advanced seawater desalination solutions for the two FPSOs.
