Planning underway for Goliat Ridge area cluster development in Barents Sea
Vår Energi has started work on an early-phase project to progress its recent discoveries in the Goliat Ridge region of the Barents Sea, the company said in a second-quarter update.
All are within tieback range of the Goliat FPSO, allowing for a fast-track, cost-efficient development, the company added. It estimates the Goliat Ridge’s gross discovered and prospective recoverable resources at above 200 MMboe.
Later in the current quarter, drilling is due to start for two further appraisal wells. Recently, a 3D seismic survey was acquired over the Goliat Ridge area to support development studies.
In the North Sea, the company is a partner in the Ekofisk area, where operator ConocoPhillips Skandinavia is maturing the Ekofisk PPF (Previously Produced Fields) project toward FID later this year.
FID for the Eldfisk North project could be taken this summer.
At the Equinor-operated Sleipner Field complex, production could partly resume in September through the Sleipner B platform following a shutdown caused by a fire last year. Full production will likely begin in the first half of 2027, Vår Energi added.
