ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has awarded Subsea7 a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study contract for the Previously Produced Fields (PPF) development.
This involves a joint redevelopment of the Albuskjell, Vest Ekofisk and Tommeliten Gamma fields, 20 km west of Ekofisk Area II, 290 km southwest of Stavanger in the Norwegian North Sea. According to Wood Mackenzie, these were three of Norway’s earliest producing fields; all were shut in and decommissioned following the removal of the Ekofisk I production facilities.
Subsea7’s study, covered by a new framework agreement with ConocoPhillips, will finalize the technical definition of the proposed subsea development, which will be connected to the existing Ekofisk complex.
If ConocoPhillips and its partners take a final investment decision (FID) on the project, with the approval of the authorities, it can exercise an option under the agreement to award Subsea7 the subsea structures, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) scope.
In that event, offshore installation activities would likely take place between 2026 and 2029.
Erik Femsteinevik, vice president for Subsea7 Norway, said the FEED contract could enable the company “to engage early in the field development process, optimizing design solutions and contributing to the final investment decision."
