NorSea pitching Polarbase investment for Johan Castberg

NorSea Group plans to spend NOK60 million ($7.25 million) constructing a new Roll-on/Roll-off facility at its Polarbase supply base on the northern Norwegian coast.

HAMMERFEST, NorwayNorSea Group plans to spend NOK60 million ($7.25 million) constructing a new Roll-on/Roll-off facility at its Polarbase supply base on the northern Norwegian coast.

This follows Statoil’s submission of its plan for development and operation for theJohan Castberg project in the Barents Sea.

NorSea Group CEO John Stangeland said: “We believe the Johan Castberg project will create establishment needs for the wider supplier industry inHammerfest, and we anticipate that we will make further investment in infrastructure to meet these needs.”

Polarbase Managing Director Ketil Holmgren added: “New ro-ro facilities at the quay will allow for even more efficient loading and unloading work.”

The company currently supportsEni’s Goliat project in the same region.

Consultancy Agenda Kaupang estimates the project will create 30-45 new supply base-related jobs.
