PETERHEAD, UKNorSea Group (UK) and Independent Oilfield Services (IOS) are teaming up to provide a comprehensive logistics, storage, and inspection package for oil and gas companies operating in northeast Scotland.

The alliance will combine NorSea’s quayside oil/gas field services and logistics at its deepwater base at Smith Quay, Peterhead (north of Aberdeen), with IOS’ oilfield equipment storage and tubulars inspection facility at nearby Longside.

Currently, most equipment and tubulars sent to ports in the region must travel large distances by road to reach suitable storage and inspection facilities, the two companies claim.

However, the new arrangement provides the option of landing equipment at Peterhead for the brief trip to the storage base, cutting down on the degree of transportation required and associated costs.

Another proposal under review is to expand the IOS site to meet the requirements of existing and new clients from the drilling market.
