Bladt, Semco to provide CVOW-C substations

ESBJERG, Denmark – Dominion Energy Virginia has awarded the Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime consortium a turnkey contract for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind commercial project (CVOW-C).

The work scope includes the design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and installation of three 880-MW offshore substations.

Bladt Industries is responsible for the design, procurement, and manufacturing of steel structures and jacket foundations. Semco Maritime is responsible for the design, procurement, and installation of electrical equipment, emergency systems, and inter-array cables.

Located about 43 km (27 mi) off the coast of Virginia Beach, the 2.6-GW CVOW-C project is the largest planned offshore wind farm in the US. The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and power about 660,000 homes.

This is the consortium’s third offshore substation project in the US and the two strategic partners’ 21st project together since their first cooperation in 2003.
