Siemens secures Mayflower Wind equipment order

Semco Maritime has ordered high voltage equipment from Siemens for the electrical service platform for the Mayflower Wind project, 25 mi (40 km) south of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

MUNICH, Germany – Semco Maritime has ordered high voltage equipment from Siemens for the electrical service platform (ESP) for the Mayflower Wind project, 25 mi (40 km) south of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The company will deliver three 275 kV / 265 MVAr shunt reactors, a 72 kV HV gas insulated switchgear, three 275 kV MV GIS systems, integrated conditioning monitoring system, and SCADA and protection systems.

The system solution is specifically designed to reduce both the size and weight of the platform, lowering the need for the use of steel in the construction, according to Siemens.

The equipment is expected to be delivered by 2022.

Mayflower Wind is a joint venture project between Shell and EDP Renewables.
