ADNOC has awarded McDermott an EPCI contract for Package 4 of the Umm Shaif integrated gas cap and surface pressure boosting project offshore Abu Dhabi.

This is part of the Umm Shaif Long Term Development Plan (LTDP), designed to maximize gas recovery and increase production from the field. 

The Umm Shaif Field is one of Abu Dhabi's largest offshore producing assets, and the LTDP is focused on extending field life, improving recovery rates and supporting ADNOC's broader gas production growth strategy.

McDermott and the Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) consortium will deliver the new surface pressure boosting facility, including construction and installation of a jacket and topside along with brownfield modifications.

The topside will be among the heaviest offshore modules ever installed in the Middle East, McDermott added.

The company’s offices in the UAE will lead engineering and project management, with QMW performing fabrication at the joint venture’s yard in Qingdao, China.

ADNOC reached FID last month on the $6.2-billion (AED 22.6-billion) Umm Shaif Gas Cap offshore natural gas development project.
