Sleipnir to install Marjan jackets offshore Saudi Arabia

McDermott has commissioned Heerema Marine Contractors to transport and install six platform jackets for Package-1 of Saudi Aramco’s Marjan Increment program.

LEIDEN, the NetherlandsMcDermott International has commissioned Heerema Marine Contractors to transport and install six platform jackets for Package-1 of Saudi Aramco’s Marjan Increment program offshore Saudi Arabia.

The new facilities will raise production capacity from the Marjan field: McDermott is responsible for fabrication of three tie-in platforms and seven wellhead platforms with a total weight of more than 61,400 tons (55,700 metric tons).

Heerema’s scope covers six jackets, piles, and boatlandings for the GOSP complex, all weighing in the range of 4,500-6,700 metric tons (4,960-7,385 tons) with a maximum footprint of 90 x 52 m (295 x 170.6 ft). 

The company’s H-591 barge will transport the jackets from the L&T yard in Oman to the Marjan offshore location, with the semisubmersible crane vessel Sleipnir lift-installing the jackets and piles, with a combined weight of 24,000 metric tons (26,455 tons), in 2023. 

Heerema will manage the program from its offices in Leiden and Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
