Heerema gets call to remove two UK North Sea platforms

LEIDEN, the NetherlandsDNO has awarded Heerema Marine Contractors a decommissioning contract for the Ketch and Schooner gas platforms in the UK southern North Sea.

The scope covers integrated engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal of the facilities, both of which Heerema installed in the 1990s.

Both platforms are tied-back to the Murdoch complex, which the company will also remove.

The Ketch platform is in 54 m (117 ft) water depth, and the Schooner platform is in 71 m (233 ft). Post-removal, both structures will be sent to shore for dismantling, with a target of up to 97% for equipment/materials re-use and recycling.
