NPD authorizes three offshore Norway wells

OSLO, NorwayEquinor and Wintershall Dea have got the go-ahead for two exploration drilling programs from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

The semisubmersible West Phoenix will drill wells 15/3-12 S and 15/3-12 E in North Sea license PL025, at a location 4 km (2.5 mi) south of the 15/3-4 (Sigrun) discovery.

Wintershall Dea’s target is in PL894 in the Norwegian Sea, 15 km (9.3 mi) east of the company’s Balderbrå gas discovery (well 6604/5-1) and 110 km (68 mi) southwest of the producing Aasta Hansteen field, where it is a partner to operator Equinor.

After a shipyard stay Saipem’s semisub Scarabeo 8 will drill well 6604/6-1.
