NPD authorizes three Norwegian Sea wildcats

OSLO, Norway – Three operators have the go-ahead for wells in the Norwegian Sea, following approvals from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

For Aker BP, the semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger will drill well 6608/6-1 in production license 762, 60 km (37 mi) northeast of the Norne field.

This will be the first well since the license was awarded in February 2014.

Equinor Energy will use the semisub West Phoenix for well 6507/2-5 S in PL 167, 7 km (4.3 mi) southwest of the Marulk gas-condensate field.

Cairn Energy subsidiary Capricorn Norge has booked the semisub Transocean Norge for well 6508/1-3 in PL 758, 6 km (3.8 mi) southeast of Norne.
