Seatrium to prepare Golar FLNG vessel for service offshore Argentina
Golar Hilli Corp. has contracted Seatrium to upgrade the FLNG Hilli Episeyo for a new long-term role offshore Argentina, the fabricator confirmed in an Aug. 27 news release.
The vessel has operated offshore Kribi, Cameroon, since 2018 for Perenco and SNH. It is now due to enter Seatrium’s yard in Singapore during third-quarter 2026. The modifications workscope will include engineering and procurement of long-lead items, repair, life extension and winterization measures, and installation of a new soft-yoke mooring system.
Upon completion, the vessel will sail to the Gulf of San Matias in Rio Negro province offshore Argentina, where it will liquefy gas over a 20-year period produced from the onshore Vaca Muerta Shale formation onshore in Neuquen province.
It should start operations in 2027, with a nameplate capacity of 2.45 MMt/year.
Seatrium previously converted the vessel in 2017 for operations offshore Cameroon, and it also delivered the FLNG Gimi to Golar in 2023. This vessel started commercial operations earlier this year at the bp-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim gas-condensate field offshore Mauritania/Senegal.
