SBM allocates hull for sixth Búzios floater

MONACOPetrobras has awarded SBM Offshore a letter of intent for a 26.25-year lease and operate contract for the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré.

This will be the sixth FPSO located at the giant Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin, 180 km (112 mi) offshore Rio de Janeiro.

Under the terms of the EPCI contract, SBM Offshore will design the vessel based on its Fast4Ward, Multi-Purpose Floater (MPF) hull combined with standardized topsides modules.

The company has allocated its fourth Fast4Ward MPF hull to the project.

According to the company, this will be Brazil’s largest oil producing platform, capable of processing 225,000 b/d of oil and 12 MMcm/d of gas, with water injection capacity of 250,000 b/d and a minimum crude storage capacity of 1.4 MMbbl.

The vessel will be spread moored in around 2,000 m (6,562 ft) water depth, and is due to be delivered in the second half of 2024.
