Tullow Oil has commissioned DeepOcean for a riser re-termination program at the deepwater Jubilee Field offshore Ghana.
The gas-lift riser connects the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah to the field’s subsea production system.
DeepOcean's EMEA division will perform project management, engineering, riser disconnection, deck-side re-termination, reconnection and pre-commissioning services, using the subsea construction vessel Orient Adventurer (ex-Polar Onyx) for the offshore operations.
The company has deployed the vessel, which recently underwent refurbishment and upgrades, on previous subsea construction jobs in Ghana.
Its refurbished Huisman vertical lay system (VLS) has a 275-mt top tension dynamic capacity, and it is designed for safe and efficient running of the risers through the moonpool, explained Robin Mawhinney, EVP for DeepOcean’s EMEA region.
The vessel also has a 2,500-mt under-deck carousel.
DeepOcean Ghana, a joint venture between DeepOcean and its local partner, is responsible for contract execution.
Teams in Accra, Ghana, and Sète, France will manage the work, with engineering support from technicians in Aberdeen. Offshore activities should take place during the current quarter.
The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah has a processing capacity of more than 120,000 bbl/d of oil and associated gas-handling equipment.
