There have been many discussions lately among our readers and clients alike about the impacts of AI tools, like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews, on search results and the content being shown to users. These tools and changing user behavior, in many cases, have led to a decline in organic traffic to websites, especially for informational content. Another concern lies in the fact that the ease of generating content with AI leads to content overload, making it harder for high-quality, human-created content to stand out.

Fortunately, with Offshore's 70-year history and content authority, we still had more than 1.4 million page views on our website in the first half of the year, which was more than the same period the year prior. The Offshore website is indeed receiving traffic from ChatGPT users now—a first in 2025, and so our brand in continuing to evolve from a digital perspective. The editors will still produce the high-quality, multimedia content Offshore has become known for.

Another high-interest topic right now centers on offshore safety. A handful of Offshore's recent news stories covered the fatalities of four workers during a drilling barge incident offshore Egypt, the death of three workers during a platform fire offshore Angola, a crew member that was electrocuted while aboard a vessel offshore New York and an incident involving loss of life on a drillship offshore Malaysia.

In the latest July/August 2025 issue, Offshore's second annual "Safety Systems & PPE Special Report" provides an overview of the latest safety trends, advances in technology, workforce training, HSE practices and personal protective equipment in the offshore oil and gas industry.

In addition, this issue also highlights an in-depth analysis from Westwood Global Energy Group on the Top 10 offshore drillers and by Esgian on the role of semi rigs in the future deepwater market.

Moreover, Westwood analysts will be assessing the state of the offshore drilling market during an Aug. 26 webinar. This live event will provide an in-depth look at the cautiously rebounding offshore drilling market in 2025, where rising demand, evolving technologies and shifting rig dynamics are reshaping the industry.

Also in this issue, you'll find a reader favorite: regional reports. Rystad Energy examines Norway and UK in terms of remaining resource potential, project sanctioning, investment paths and production potential. As for the offshore APAC region, Offshore's Jeremy Beckman interviewed Wood Mackenzie analysts about the potential for new exploration activities offshore Indonesia and the year-round shortages of gas in Australia that will become increasingly likely early in the 2030s.

Enjoy!
