Prosafe reactivates accommodation rig for North Sea Captain contract

Ithaca Energy has awarded Prosafe a letter of intent to charter the semisubmersible Safe Caledonia to provide gangway-connected accommodation support at the Captain Field in the central UK North Sea. 

The contract, due to start in June 2025, will run for six months firm with up to three months of options; confirmation of the contract is subject to meeting site-specific technical criteria.

Ahead of the assignment, the rig will undergo its five-yearly special periodic survey and other maintenance.

Value of the contract is $26 million to $37 million, depending on the options taken. 

Prosafe CEO Terje Askvig said, “The reactivation and commitment of the Safe Caledonia reflects the continued tightening of the accommodation market in the North Sea and globally.”
