ABERDEEN, UKIthaca Energy’s Captain EOR Phase II project in the central UK North Sea is nearing completion, the company said in a results update.

Final verification activities have finished ahead of first Phase II polymer injection into the subsea wells. All the remaining three Area D polymer injection wells have been drilled, and the new production well B35 has been brought online.

The full subsea infrastructure is in place, including flowlines, umbilicals and subsea distribution units to enable EOR II startup.

Work continues on the Captain electrification FEED study.

At the bp-operated Schiehallion Field west of Shetland, production has been impacted by weather-related downtime and outages caused by the semisub Ocean Great White being off station. This will have a knock-on effect on timing of new production wells later in the year.

In the same region, the Equinor-operated Rosebank development project is progressing with the Petrojarl Rosebank FPSO docked in Dubai for upgrade works, and SURF activity is due to start shortly.
