Grenland Group wins Transocean Searcher skidding system contract

Transocean has awarded Grenland Group a $3.5 million EPCI contract for modification of the skidding system of the semisubmersible rig Transocean Searcher.

PARIS -- Transocean has awarded Grenland Group a $3.5 million EPCI contract for modification of the skidding system of the semisubmersible rig Transocean Searcher. The rig will be operating for StatoilHydro at the Gjøa field.

The contract comprises delivery of turn tables, skidding units, pulling tractor, and associated equipment. The contract also includes structural reinforcements of the main deck.

The EPCI delivery will enable the rig to handle FMC equipment of 90 metric tons (99 tons).
