King’s Quay FPS arrives in Texas

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – COSCO Shipping Specialized’s semisubmersible M/V Xiang An Kou delivered the King’s Quay FPS to Ingleside, Texas, in early September.

According to Murphy Oil Corp., the journey from the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea to Ingleside is more than 14,000 mi (22,531 km).

The 21,498-metric ton (23,697-ton) King’s Quay FPS is designed to process 80,000 b/d of oil and 100 MMcf/d of gas. It will handle the production from Murphy’s Khaleesi/Mormont and Samurai fields in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico.

First oil is expected in the first half of 2022.

The Khaleesi/Mormont field development includes seven subsea wells and infrastructure tieback to King’s Quay. Khaleesi is in Green Canyon block 390 and Mormont is in Green Canyon block 478.

Located in Green Canyon block 476, the Samurai field is a four-subsea well tieback to King’s Quay.
