King’s Quay FPS sailing to Texas

Murphy Oil Corp. has issued updates on its development and exploration programs in the Gulf of Mexico, Brunei, and Brazil.

HOUSTON Murphy Oil Corp. has issued updates on its development and exploration programs in the Gulf of Mexico, Brunei, and Brazil in its 2Q results statement.

The company’s major projects in the Gulf of Mexico continue to advance on schedule.

Hyundai Heavy Industries completed construction of the King’s Quay semisubmersible floating production system (FPS) in South Korea. It is expected to arrive at the shore base in Texas at the end of 3Q.

The King’s Quay FPS is designed to process 80,000 b/d of oil and 100 MMcf/d of gas. It will handle the production from the Khaleesi / Mormont and Samurai fields in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The company drilled the Samurai #3 well and spudded the Khaleesi #3 well in 2Q. The Samurai #4 well is expected to be drilled in 3Q.

First oil is expected in the first half of 2022.

Also, the final well of the Chevron-operated St. Malo waterflood project was drilled and is scheduled to come online in late 2021.

Chevron spudded the Silverback exploration well on Mississippi Canyon block 35 in the Gulf of Mexico. Results are pending. Murphy holds 10% working interest.

Offshore Brunei, Murphy and its partners Shell and Petronas made a discovery with the Jagus SubThrust-1X exploration well on block CA-1 in the Northwest Borneo basin. Shell is the operator and holds 86.949% interest. Murphy holds 8.051% working interest and Petronas holds 5%. The partners are assessing development and appraisal plans.

Offshore Brazil, the ExxonMobil-operated Cutthroat-1 exploration well in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin is expected to spud in 4Q 2021. Murphy holds 20% working interest.
