Israel widens offshore gas production suspension to Leviathan platform
The Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructures sent a security recommendation notice to Chevron Mediterranean Ltd. on June 13 to halt the Leviathan platform's operations until further notice, according to a June 14 NewMed Energy press release.
It follows the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Accordingly, natural gas production from the Leviathan reservoir has stopped.
The partners on this project are NewMed Energy (45.34%), Chevron (39.66%) and Ratio (15%).
A similar notice was issued last week to Energean, operator of the FPSO Energean Power, which produces gas from the offshore Karish Field.
