NORTH SYDNEY, Australia – AWE has started planning for decommissioning of the facilities serving the Tui Area oil fields in New Zealand’s offshore Taranaki basin.

Discussions are under way with the regulator. Depending on oil price movement, the program could start in 2019.

Production from the Tui fields was recently averaging 3,250 b/d. AWE is also continuing studies into reducing operating expenditure, including FPSO costs, and production optimization.

At theBassGas project in the Bass basin off southeast Australia (AWE 35%), production has been impacted by wellhead maintenance activity.

However, hookup and commissioning work for the compression and condensate pumping modules on theYolla platform are progressing well, with start-up targeted for the first half of 2017.

Concept studies continue for the associated Trefoil field development.
