MELBOURNE, Australia — OMV and its partners are working on plans to extend the life of the producing Maari Field offshore New Zealand beyond the expiry of the current permit in December 2027.

The field is in the PMP 38160 permit in the offshore Taranaki Basin. Partner Cue Energy said the co-venturers are assessing potential production enhancement, cost reduction and CO2 reduction opportunities.

A workover continues on the MR6a well, the goal being to suspend the existing production zone and reperforate the Matapo and Kap100 reservoirs to produce oil from these zones.

In the Sampang PSC offshore Indonesia (Cue 15%), the Medco Energi-led joint venture will likely seek an extension to the production permit extension for the Oyong and Wortel fields and for Paus Biru, when developed.

The proposal is said to have government support, and authorization could come through later this year. The partners will also request changes to the terms of the PSC to progress to a final investment decision on Paus Biru.

Plans call for a single well and wellhead platform at the Paus Biru gas field, and a 27-km subsea pipeline linking the well to existing Oyong Field infrastructure. First gas could flow in 2027 at rates of 20 MMcf/d to 25 MMcf/d.
