Altus, Archer form alliances for Equinor’s Norway wireline awards

Equinor has issued five-year framework contracts to Altus Intervention and Archer Integrated Services with a total value approaching NOK1 billion/yr ($120 million).

STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has issued five-year framework contracts to Altus Intervention and Archer Integrated Services with a total value approaching NOK1 billion/yr ($120 million).

These cover total responsibility supply of integrated wireline services for well interventions, with options to extend wireline services to mobile units.

Previously, Equinor has awarded separate contracts for cable and mechanical services, perforation, logging, tractor and electro-mechanical services.

The two suppliers have formed alliances in order to fulfil complete deliveries: Altus is collaborating with Baker Hughes Norge while Archer has teamed up with Welltec Oilfield Services and Schlumberger Norge.

Cross-training of employees will follow to improve the level of competence across the alliances.

Equinor said its main goal in this arrangement was to further safe and effective intervention operations, with an emphasis on use of new technology and digital solutions.

Related aims are emission reductions, cutting operating costs and moving personnel from offshore to onshore locations (remote ops).

Areas of responsibility:

Altus Intervention: Gina Krog, Grane, Gudrun, Johan Sverdrup, Kvitebjørn, Oseberg, Martin Linge, Sleipner, Valemon, Veslefrikk, Heidrun, Snorre and Visund

Archer Integrated Services: Gullfaks and Statfjord.

Dag Skindlo, CEO of Archer, said: “In addition to our alliance service offering, Archer is in a unique position to offer more cost-efficient operation through our OneArcher operating model.

“As our Platform Drilling division is currently performing drilling operations on the Gullfaks and Statfjord platforms, we can further integrate and collaborate to offer a more efficient utilization of resources on these assets through cross training, operational synergies, and optimization of personnel. This model will provide a meaningful cost savings to our client, in addition to supporting our industry’s goals of reducing carbon footprint and lessening of environmental impact.”
