NPD sanctions Wintershall wildcat in the Norwegian Sea

OSLO, Norway – Wintershall has secured approval from the Norwegian Petroleum to drill an exploration well in a deepwater area 120 km (74.6 mi) southwest of the Aasta Hansteen gas/condensate field in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleWest Phoenix will drill well 6604/5-1, the first on production license PL 894, which was awarded this February under Norway’s APA 2016 Round.
