Deepsea Atlantic back on duty at Gullfaks offshore Norway

    Odfjell Drilling's semisubmersible Deepsea Atlantic has resumed drilling operations for Statoil on the Gullfaks field in the North Sea, following a 25-day stay for modifications and a periodic survey.

    HAMILTON, Bermuda – Odfjell Drilling's semisubmersible Deepsea Atlantic has resumed drilling operations for Statoil on the Gullfaks field in the North Sea, following a 25-day stay for modifications and a periodic survey.

    Under the $55-million budget program, the rig was fitted with a new top drive, two new thrusters, a new N-line (part of the compensation system for the BOP/riser), and new valves below sea level.
