STAVANGER, NorwaySpirit Energy and its partners have sanctioned a new infill well at the Oda field in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

Drilling should take place during September or October. The jackup Valaris Viking will spud the well, in a water depth of 65 m (213 ft), directly after finishing work for another operator offshore Norway.

Petter Myhre, asset manager for operated production at Spirit, said: “Since the Oda field started production in March 2019, we have gained good understanding of the reservoir. Based on this knowledge, a new infill well will accelerate production from Oda and produce the oil from the field even faster.”

Oda produces to the Aker BP-operated Ula field center via two subsea production wells and one water injector for pressure support.

The oil is exported via the Ekofisk complex through the Norpipe pipeline to the Teesside terminal northeast England. Oda’s gas is used for improved recovery at Ula.

Other license partners are Suncor Energy, DNO, and Aker BP.
