Seatrium has signed a letter of intent with Solvang ASA for installation and retrofitting of full-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems.
Seatrium has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Solvang ASA for installation and retrofitting of full-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems, according to a June 19 Seatrium news release.

The LOI was formalized in early June during Nor-Shipping 2025 in Oslo, Norway.

This collaboration aims to support Solvang ASA in its fleet decarbonization.

Successfully delivered in February, Clipper Eris is described by the partners as the world’s first full-scale turnkey retrofit of a 7-MW CCS system. For the Clipper Eris project, Seatrium provided turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the CCS package.

Solvang's new series of very large gas carriers, configured specifically for CCS, is set to be the first potential candidate for a full-scale CCS retrofit and integration. The project is expected to begin in late 2026.
