KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Petrobras has extended by two years a charter and service contract in Brazil for Sapura Energy’s Sapura Esmeralda pipelay support vessel.
The extension was awarded to Sapura Navegação Marítima, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seabras Sapura Participações, which is in turn a joint venture company between Sapura Offshore and Seabras Serviços De Petroleo.
The new agreement, which took effect on Aug. 2, is valued at about RM580 million (US$130.1 million) and includes the provision of services and charter of installation and recovery of flexible pipes in Brazilian waters in a maximum water depth of 2,500 m.
Sapura’s Engineering & Construction division operates six pipelay vessels in Brazil, with a utilization rate of about 95%.
