LYNGBY, Denmark – Shell has selected the Maersk Convincer its Jack-Up Rig of the Year 2020.
This is the third consecutive year that the rig has won the award since starting operations for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) off Brunei Darussalam in the fall of 2017.
From next month the drillship Maersk Viking will work for the same operator.
Amir Hamzah, Rig Superintendent Convincer for BSP explained the reasons behind Shell’s decision:
“The team has stepped up to keep the business running as they managed the impact of the pandemic. Local Bruneian staff took on greater responsibility as they were accelerated into leadership roles which also meant taking on longer shifts to help manage the unconventional crew changes.
“Ex-pat staff took on longer shifts and spent long periods of time away from their families to manage the risk of exposure and also to keep things running.”
