Jumbo to transport Hornsea Two monopiles, transition pieces

DEME Offshore has contracted Jumbo to support its work scope on Ørsted’s Hornsea Two offshore wind farm in the UK.

SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands DEME Offshore has contracted Jumbo to support its work scope on Ørsted’s Hornsea Two offshore wind farm.

Jumbo will transport 165 monopiles from Rostock, Germany to Eemshaven, the Netherlands, and 135 transition pieces from Aalborg, Denmark to Eemshaven with a K3000 class vessel.

The K3000 class vessel features 3,250 sq m (34,983 sq ft) of free deck space, and two 1,500-ton cranes.

In addition, the company will provide project management for the transport scope, including the engineering and design of both transportation and cradles.

Transport is expected to start in August 2020.

The Hornsea Two site is adjacent to the Hornsea One offshore wind farm, 89 km (55 mi) off the coast of Yorkshire, UK.

The 1.4-GW Hornsea Two is expected to provide energy to more than 1.3 million homes.
