The 1.4 GW Hornsea Two wind farm is about 89 km (55 mi) off the Yorkshire coast and is expected to meet the electricity needs of more than 1.3 million homes per year.
DEME Offshore will transport and install the 165 monopile foundations and carry out scour protection. The monopiles and transition pieces will be installed by the company’s new DP-3 offshore installation vessel Orion, which is expected to enter the fleet by the end of the year.
The company will also transport and install 165 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW turbines at the wind farm. Turbine installation will be carried out with the vessels Sea Challenger and Sea Installer. Installation is expected to be completed in early 2022.
The total contract value is more than EUR 200 million ($223 million).
