Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center has expanded Subsea7's role on the Sakarya Phase 3 gas development offshore Türkiye, adding FPU towing, mooring installation and commissioning support services.

Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center has expanded the scope of Subsea 7’s contract for the Sakarya Phase 3 gas project offshore Turkey in the Black Sea.

It follows an amendment announced in March to the original contract, awarded in August 2025. That covered additional EPCI work to connect the recently discovered Goktepe Field to the Phase 3 floating production unit (FPU), via 20 km of flexible flowlines, 120 km of umbilicals, a rigid production riser and associated subsea equipment.

Under the latest award, Subsea7 will also perform towing and installation of mooring lines and connection activities for commissioning of the FPU in 2028.

The company will manage engineering from its office in Istanbul.

The Sakarya gas field is Türkiye's largest natural gas discovery and forms a central part of the country's efforts to reduce dependence on imported energy. Phase 3 development includes a floating production unit designed to increase processing capacity as additional reserves, including the nearby Goktepe discovery, are brought online.
