Norwegian audit finds maintenance, maritime system deficiencies on Saipem rig

Saipem must address seven non-conformities identified during a Norwegian regulatory audit of the Scarabeo 8 semisubmersible, including issues involving ballast systems, watertight integrity and maintenance management.

Why this news matters:

  • The findings highlight ongoing regulatory scrutiny of offshore drilling rig safety and maintenance practices.

  • Several deficiencies involve ballast and watertight integrity systems that are critical to rig stability.

  • Saipem must implement corrective measures before Norwegian authorities close out the findings.
