Contracts lengthened for two Transocean drillships

The Deepwater Atlas and Deepwater Mykonos will extend their present operations in the US Gulf and offshore Brazil after the clients exercised options in the contracts.

Two deepwater operators have extended current drillship contracts with Transocean, the company reported Oct. 15.

In the US Gulf of Mexico, the client exercised a 365-day option for the Deepwater Atlas at a day rate of $635,000.

Another client opted to retain the Deepwater Mykonos for a further 30 days offshore Brazil.

Transcoean estimates the combined revenues from the two extensions at about $243 million.
