Two Transocean drillships win contracts in the Gulf of Mexico

The ultra-deepwater drillships Deepwater Conqueror and Deepwater Asgard are both expected to start one-well contracts in 1Q 2022.

STEINHAUSEN, SwitzerlandTransocean Ltd. has received two contracts in the US Gulf of Mexico.

An undisclosed major operator has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Conqueror a one-well contract. The value of this contract adds about 85 days and $28.5 million in backlog.

Another undisclosed operator has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard a one-well contract. The value of this contract adds about 90 days and $27 million in backlog and includes $40,000 per day for managed pressure drilling services.

Both contracts are expected to start in 1Q 2022.

According to Transocean’s most recent fleet status report, the Deepwater Conqueror is currently under a five-year contract with Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract is expected to end in December 2021.

The Deepwater Asgard is currently under contract with Beacon Offshore Energy in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract is expected to end in October 2021.
