DEME/Penta JV to install Japan’s first 15-MW offshore wind turbines

Offshore construction for the Oga-Katagami-Akita offshore wind development is due to start in 2027.

DEME, via its Japanese joint venture with Penta-Ocean Construction (Japan Offshore Marine), will install the country’s first 15-MW class wind turbines for the Oga-Katagami-Akita offshore wind project, DEME reported in late May.

The contract, awarded by Akita Offshore Green Energy, covers engineering works and the vessel charter for installing 21 Vestas V236-15 MW wind turbines.

The Sea Challenger transport and installation jackup vessel will perform the program, sailing under the Japanese flag by the time offshore works begin in the second half of 2027.
