Eni and Argentina's state-owned YPF have signed an agreement for the Argentina LNG project, following a memorandum of understanding signed on April 14.

The new agreement sets out the steps needed to reach FID on the phase of the project that includes production, treatment, transportation and liquefaction installations of gas via floating units (FLNGs), for a total capacity of 12 MMt/year of LNG.

Argentina LNG is an integrated upstream and midstream gas project designed to develop the gas from the onshore Vaca Muerta for LNG exports to international markets.

A phased development is planned, targeting up to 30 MMt/year of LNG by 2030.

Eni brings FLNG experience from its projects offshore Congo and Mozambique, and experience of construction projects with similar technological requirements elsewhere.

The company also cited its track record with project execution and time-to-market delivery.
