Eni has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with YPF concerning participation in the Argentina LNG project.

The upstream and midstream integrated gas scheme is designed to develop gas from the onshore Vaca Muerta Field, with phased exports of up to 30 MMt/year of LNG to international markets from the end of the decade.

The project phase of the MoU with state energy company YPF covers construction of the upstream, transportation and gas liquefaction facilities through two 6-MMt/year floating LNG units, for a total of 12 mtpa.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi stated in an April 14 company news release: “YPF's choice of Eni as a strategic partner stems from the specific and distinctive know-how we have developed in FLNG projects in Congo and Mozambique, and from the recognition of our global leadership in implementing projects with this technology.”
