Australia nears deadlines for bidding opportunities

Nominations of areas for the 2014 Acreage Release by Australia are due by this coming July 31, reminds the Department of Resources, Energy, and Tourism.

CANBERRA, Australia –Nominations of areas for the 2014 Acreage Release by Australia are due by this coming July 31, reminds the Department of Resources, Energy, and Tourism.

Nominated areas will be review and may or may not be included, based on previous interest or exploration in the area, whether there is a new development in the area that might attract bidders, whether there might be an adverse impact on current offshore petroleum exploration acreage release areas, pre-competitive studies by Geoscience Australia, international maritime boundary negotiations, Australian marine reserves network, and anything deemed relevant within waters adjacent to the proposed area.

Meanwhile, the closing date for applications to the first bidding round is Nov. 21, 2013, and to the second round May 22, 2014.
