ST JOHN’S, Canada — The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has issued a call for bids for exploration licenses in the Eastern Newfoundland Region.

Call for Bids No. NL24-CFB01 comprises 41 parcels covering a total area of 10,287,196 ha.

Nine of these parcels are new, with consideration given to stakeholder feedback from a previous call for nominations. The remaining 32 were either available under previous calls for bids or are over relinquished areas that subsequently reverted back to Crown reserve.

Applicants must submit bids by 12 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2024. The winning bid will be based on the total sum of money pledged for exploration of a parcel during the first six years of a nine-year license.

Some of the areas offered overlap the Northeast Newfoundland Slope Marine Refuge.
