LONDON – Statoil has informed Britain’s Oil and Gas Authority of a firm exploration well commitment next summer on the Verbier prospect in the UK central North Sea.
Jersey Oil & Gas, which has an 18% interest in the surrounding license P.2170, blocks 20/5b and 21/1d, says no extension is therefore needed to the Nov. 30 drill-or-drop deadline.
CEO Andrew Benitz said: “We believe the planned well could be one of the most exciting exploration prospects to be drilled in the UK continental shelf in recent years.”
