DAKAR, Senegal – PETROSEN, Senegal’s national oil company, has opened the country’s first offshore licensing round at the MSGBC Basin Summit & Exhibition in Dakar.

On offer are 12 offshore blocks on offer in the Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea Conakry (MSGBC) basin.

Deadline for applications to Ministry of Petroleum and Energy is July 31, 2020.

TGS will offer data across this acreage to support the round, including 2D seismic, 3D seismic, multi-beam and seafloor sampling.

In addition, the company is working with GeoPartners on a new 3D survey, results of which will be available to assist bidders in their subsurface assessments prior to lodging applications.

The SN-UDO-19 is over northern Senegalese waters and is an extension to the recently completed SS-UDO-19 3D off southern Senegal.

According to TGS, it is designed to shed light on ultra-deepwater plays that could be analogous to those housing the Sangomar field, GTA complex and Yakaar discoveries. The palaeo shelf-edge carbonate trend extends south of Sangomar with a large prospective area outboard of this to the north and south, TGS added.

The latest survey is currently more than 70% complete, with fast-track data due to be available this spring. The full dataset will be ready by 4Q 2020.

More roadshows to promote the round are planned in London on Feb. 29 and in Houston on Feb. 25.
