Galp Energia has upgraded the 3C contingent resources within the discovered Mopane field complex on PEL 83 offshore Namibia.

Sintana Energy, which has an indirect carried interest of 4.9% in the license, said the new estimate of 1.38 Bboe represented a 57% increase of the previously projected 875 MMboe.

TotalEnergies has agreed to farm in as operator of the license, where a new three-well drilling campaign is due to start later this year.

While FID on the development is currently targeted in 2028, followed by first oil in 2032, Sintana noted TotalEnergies’ view that there is potential for further resources from a possible inboard extension of Mopane and from two newly identified prospects, Quiver and Sobreiro.
