WEST PERTH, Australia – The drillship Valaris DS-10 has spudded the Graff-1 exploration well for Shell in the Orange basin, offshore Namibia.

TotalEnergies is also drilling the ultra-deepwater Venus-1 prospect, both on trend with the Pancontinental-operated Saturn turbidite complex in the offshore PEL 87 concession.

According to a Pancontinental spokesperson, “These turbidite plays are like very large oil fields elsewhere in Africa, triggering significant interest in offshore Namibia from major oil companies and Africa specialists.

“In this prime region, drilling success could open up a complete new African oil play.”
