bp has produced first LNG at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project offshore Mauritania and Senegal, according to partner Kosmos Energy.

At the end of last year, gas from the project’s first-phase wells began flowing to the FPSO, as part of the commissioning program. Here, the gas is being processed to remove any condensate, water and impurities before being sent to the FLNG vessel, closer to the shore, for liquefaction.

Liquefaction has now started. In addition, bp has issued notice to the offtaker (bp gas marketing) for an LNG carrier to arrive later this quarter to export the first LNG cargo.
