Bass Strait gas reception plant goes online

MELBOURNE, AustraliaEsso Australia has completed construction of the Longford Gas Conditioning Plant, which processes gas from the Kipper Tuna Turrum development in the Bass Strait offshore southeast Australia.

Production from the plant marks the completion of the AUD$5.5-billion ($4.16-billion)Kipper Tuna Turrum development, said to be the largest domestic gas project on Australia’s eastern seaboard.

It will supply 1.6 tcf of gas to eastern Australia – enough to power a city of one million people for 35 years, Esso Australia said.
