HOUSTON-- Apache North Sea has brought onstream its Maule oil field via the Forties field production facilities in the UK sector, at a rate of around 11,750 b/d.

The new field was brought on production approximately eight months following the October 2009 discovery well.

Maule, which was identified by Apaches’ North Sea geoscience team, is an Eocene-age reservoir above the main Forties Paleocene reservoir.

“We were able to develop the field quickly via our existing infrastructure within the Forties Field," said James House, region vice-president and managing director of Apache North Sea.

"The viability of the project was enhanced by the UK government's incentives aimed at encouraging development of smaller fields in the North Sea."

Apache now plans a second well at Maule.
